TEMPERLEY LONDON CIRCUS ZOETROPE, SPRING/SUMMER 2010

Details: Glossyinc.com/legszoetrope.html
You may need a little imagination to capture the full impression of the innovative, awe-inspiring video from Temperley London’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, but the result is too rewarding to pass up. While the video presents a 2-dimensional view of using vaudevillian and circus-inspired imagery to represent the looks, the actual presentation is a series of film loops and projections on a 12-foot, rotating carousel – creating ten circus acts showcasing 15 Temperley designs. The fascinating concept parallels the brand’s inspired and creative culture – a risk-taking venture we can only hope to see expanded in the fashion industries future presentations.
ANNA HOVET SPRING/SUMMER 2010

An inspirational video from newcomer Anna Hovet, a young designer in residence at the Chicago Fashion Incubator. Her self-named brand launched in 2009 and is quickly gaining attention from fashion hot-shots; including Lucky Magazine, celebrity Jennifer Hudson, and the Chicago Tribune. For such a young, inexperienced designer, this lookbook is surprisingly more creative and interesting than many well-known industry leaders, while displaying the style of an up-and-comer destined to make headlines in the years to come.

“Spring Ten Show”
Vimeo.com
The most “make-us-wanna-play-dress-up” lookbook we’ve seen, produced by under-the-radar brand Mandate of Heaven, seems to have found the perfect formula for an entertaining, creative, even fun-to-watch lookbook. Beginning with the memorable voice of Tom Petty, the fast-paced switch between countless looks, and the overall party-like atmosphere of the patio-based runway, you can’t help but watch over-and-over, you may even be surprised to find new inspiration each time. This collection of one-of-a-kind, made-to-order, and hand-made pieces is produced in New York City by the ethically-concerned, playfully-stylish company.
CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN TAP DANCE
“THE MAKING OF DANCER IN A DAYDREAM WITH CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN;”
Youtube.com, Channel Fashionair19
Original Video: Fashionair.com (down for maintenance, 5/20/2010)
While Fashionair.com is out of business, you can see the rehearsal footage of the memorable tap-dance performance by the one-and-only Christian Louboutin on youtube (the official footage is only available on Fashionair.com). Along with two dancers happily tapping away in their red-soled, skyscraper heels, Louboutin proves his artistic talent through more than the fashion industry he dominates. If we knew we could tap-dance in Louboutin heels like that, we’d have signed up for lessons years ago.
