We pay homage to Balmain's eccentric fall collection

Balmain. Ah we love Christophe Decarnin for his un-Frenchness: his irreverence, his brash dismissal of fashion patronage, and his willingness to take risks. All this was particularly visible as he unleashed a torrent of dandy looks down the runway for his fall 2010 collection at Balmain. Get ready to channel your inner Dorian Gray and schmaltz about looking bored and spoiled in loads of refinery: crushed velvets, brocade coats, and silk neckties billowing about. If you need a few more pointers, try consulting new fashion handbook The New English Dandy by Alice Cicolini. The must-have book is an eclectic mix of images, inspiration and advice on how to be a thoroughly modern dandy.
