Weekend Sample Sale Review

I was excited to go to Re.Stock pop-up sale in the west loop, not only because I love to shop, but the flyer for the sale noted that they would have a variety of sizes - "not just 0s and 2s." Disappointment number one. When I walked into the store, there were literally racks and racks of clothes; most of them were of a very small size. The majority were designers or labels I've never seen or heard of. There were a few gems, including a rack of Ted Baker dresses and coats - available only in, surprise - size 2. Another small gem: a couple (literally) of amazing Cosa Nostra dresses.

A large stock of Jlee Silver's creations caught my eye. A Chicago-designed label featured in this year's Gen Art show at Fashion Focus, Jlee Silver's pieces are quite simplistic and classic. And, I didn't walk away empty handed, scoring a Jlee Silver shirt-dress in my size for what I consider to be a reasonable price. Disappointments two and three: the dressing room was hardly private and the credit card machine was broken when I was there. However, the manager of the store was working to fix the second problem and the staff was generally pretty helpful.

The sale seems hit or miss largely depending on size. But, for me, the selection of Jlee Silver made the trip worth it. And they'll be back in December for holdiay shopping.
