Thuy takes us into fall with a quiet and beautiful collection
We love fall fashion. And every season look forward to diving into the layers, the complex hues and the silky and woolen fabrics. There’s something cozy and comforting about fall fashion; its arrival is the equivalent of being served a steaming cup of tea and in front of a warm fire. And Thuy definitely had us sipping away at our proverbial tea cups lounging before a vivid fire with her consistent fall 2010 collection.
Thuy began her show with a burst of energy in a fire-engine red crushed trench. While the collection featured many of the season’s must-have pieces: capes, belted trenches and fur vests, the use of earth tones with pops of bold metallics was complex and refreshing.
A sequin pleated high-waisted dresses highlighted the designer’s deft use of the feminine silhouette. Thuy’s increased print use was noticeable without being scene-stealing. We were also pleasantly surprised the unfinished and somewhat frayed edge detail in several pieces, which seemed to imply a simmering edginess to the mainstay label.
Our favorite look from Thuy’s fall 2010 collection: deep chocolate bejeweled jacket with a cinched belt neatly tied in a bow.
We hope to see Thuy continue to push her own boundaries and take a beautiful, highly commercial collection to new levels of artistry and innovation.
