WWLN: Big Hair is Back
Fall Fashion Week has wrapped and we’re left with the scoop on what will be in style come September. Fashion aside, I was thrilled to hear that voluminous hair will be back as I love nothing more than breaking out my hot rollers for an easy, polished style that gives my hair that added lift. Taking inspiration from both the theme and the designers’ ability to fuse effortlessly casual dressing with a glamorous feel, James Vides from Sally Hershberger Downtown created big, airy styles at the DANNIJO show, which presented the “Aboriginal” Fall/Winter 2011 jewelry collection. If you’re feeling a little more adventuresome then plugging in a set of curlers, here’s how to get the look at home.
- Start with damp hair and apply a volumizing mousse throughout, combing the product through with your fingertips from the roots to ends.
- Rough dry your hair with a blow drier and apply more mousse for extra volume if necessary.
- Before styling, prep hair with a volumizing hair spray. James Vides recommends Sally Hershberger Salon Texture Blast.

4. Using a triple barrel curling iron, take a small section of your hair and clamp down with the iron approximately 1 inch away from your roots. Hold for 2-4 seconds. Continue clamping down the hair until the entire lock is wavy.
5. Once whole head of hair is wavy, brush the hair out and tease random sections to make the style as big as possible.
6. Wear your hair out or braided to one side.
